My Story
Jesse J. Elliot was an educator for over forty years. She received her MA and Ph.D. at the University of New Mexico, and many of her descriptions of people and places derive from her actual experiences working in New Mexico. Her novel, Death at Gran Quivera takes place at the base of the Manzano Mountains in New Mexico.
Elliot is an eclectic reader, who grew up suffering from a paucity of strong, female protagonists. Her own recurring heroine is Iragene Jones, female sheriff in her book, Death at Gran Quivera. Eleven of her short stories were published on Frontier Tales online and can also be found in a Christmas Mail Order Bride & Untamed West. She belongs to Central Coast Writers, Women Writing the West, and Western Fictioneers. When not writing, she is reading, hiking, dancing, and eating out with her husband and dog, One-Eyed Moody.
